Curiosity #30 - The coming of charisma
đ€Quotable Quote
âI believe in hope. I believe in 'Believe.'
â Ted
Yeah -Ted said it, but for this weekâs guest on Leadership Rules, itâs a lifestyle.
Milam Miller isnât just called the real-life Ted Lasso, he earns it from leading a $20M cross-cultural sales team in European football to founding a leadership practice rooted in kindness and confidence.
This weekâs episode of Leadership Rules features Milam, who gets how soft skills are a a superpower. His leadership story is full of perspective shifts, permission slips, and powerful questions.

đŠ "Charisma isnât about me-me-me. Itâs about them-them-them."
Milam unpacks the ABCs of charisma: Authenticity, Boldness, and Curiosity, and why they matter now more than ever.
đŠ "Donât fake it. Frame it."
That tired old âfake it till you make itâ advice? Milam calls it out for what it is: exhausting. His alternative? Start messy. Stay honest. Let people cheer for your growth.
đŠ "Grit or quit?"
Sometimes the strongest leadership move is walking away from the wrong thing. Milamâs story of quitting corporate is a familiar one in recognizing when a job is one degree off from your purpose and realigning before five years fly by.

Youâre not âstuck.â Youâre just scared to change.
Milamâs episode is your call to either grit through itâor gracefully quit it.
Be honest. Are you on a path you chose, or one you just didnât get off?

đ This week in Here - There - Every Fâing where
We had the pleasure of doing a book signing at the LATimes Festival of Books! This is the largest book festival in the world (at most of those people really like Rebecca Yarros and Fourth Wing ;) fwiw we do too). We had a blast meeting so many Ted Lasso fans.
Side note:
If you are playing along at home (with a very fine attention to detail), then you might recognize our recommendation of Quiet by Susan Cain. The book has power that we saw in play this week. We talk with a lot of folks who are looking for internships or jobs. This week we talked to an introvert who had been told that he came off scattered and "all over the place" in his interview. So we did two things: 1) We helped him identify his core values and how to tell his story aligned to those values and 2) We suggested he read Quiet. Forty-five pages in and with a clear understanding of himself and he nailed his interview and got an internship!
If you (or someone you know) is feeling stuck and looking for work, forward this to them. Our goal is to help folks find their dream career on their path to becoming the best version of themself!

P.S. Question for you - Do you think we should produce an audio version of Lead It Like Lasso? Very curious.
