Curiosity #75 - Finding "Your People"

🎤 Quotable quotes: “Be curious, not judgmental."
— Ted Lasso
This week the NFL officially kicked off Free Agency.
For a few days every March, teams across the league scramble to sign new players. Contracts fly. Fan bases refresh Twitter like day traders watching the stock market.
Hope is everywhere.
Because every fan base believes the same thing this time of year:
“This could be the move that changes everything.”
But if you watch closely over time, something interesting happens.
Despite all the spending and excitement, it’s usually the same teams making deep playoff runs in January.
Why?
Because they’re not just signing players.
They’re signing their people.
🎯 What This Means in Real Life
Free agency happens outside of football too.
Companies hire.
Teams grow.
Friendships form.
Partnerships begin.
And the same rule applies.
When you’re clear about who you are, you can recognize the right people.
When you’re not, you just chase talent and hope it works out.
That’s why the awkward work of self-awareness matters.
It helps you identify:
Who belongs on your team.
What kind of culture you’re building.
And who will actually thrive there.
Because the best teams don’t just sign stars.
They find their guys.
🏁 Final Thought
Every March, fans fall in love with the possibility of new players.
But the teams that win in January usually aren’t chasing possibilities.
They’re reinforcing identity.
Ted Lasso would say it like this.
Before you find the right people, you have to know who you are.
